Sad day

Three people got let go today. Lots of work to correct some of our promo commercials on the air. Plus day before going on vakay and that's always nutty. Oh, and DH's taking E to the hospital...crying about a sore throat and she has a fever. Dear God I hope it's not the swine flu!!! Prayers for my dear coworkers who will be greatly missed!

TWO...MORE...SLEEPS!!!!

See a theme here??? :) Another day closer to vacation. Went to Costco to stock up on stuff. Lots of snacky stuff for the kids, among other odds & sods. Tonight and tomorrow night is laundry & packing. Then Friday a.m. we'll grab some groceries and hit the road. We only need eats for the wknd then Granny & Poppy will feed us. :)

Not much going on. Computer problems at work *sigh*. Computer problems at home too. DH was trying to do an update last week when L pressed the power button midway through. Bugger! DH has to reinstall windows. I made sure I printed off all the pics I wanted just in case (230+!!!). There are a few things not working right, including our camera/pic download program. So, the pics on the camera stay put till we get that fixed. Though now I think of it, I could've taken the card into Costco and printed them off that. Next time.

Well, I've gotta run. TTFN!

THREE...MORE...SLEEPS!!!!

So I'm a TAD excited about going on vakay. :) Thursday a.m. we're heading to Ingonish for the wknd - Whitty family reunion. It's the 1st one so should be loads of fun. The Whitty side is huge. I loose count of DH's aunts and uncles, but there are lots...and of course lots of cousins, spouses and kids. They developed a really great itinerary. Friday: dance; Saturday: hike/beach day, family BBQ, church/open house; Sunday: family photo/breakfast & farewell at the spot of the old homestead. The entire family is awesome! Great people, so welcoming. Even if you're an in-law, you're a Whitty. Hope the weather is with us this wknd!!!

Then the CB tour continues in Sydney!! I have nothing planned at all. Usually it's a fly by day, depending on what everyone's doing. I hope to get some beach time/pool time in. Mom's neighbour invites us over every summer (esp. with the girls) :) And we'll have playdates with M.J. & William (at the park, playground, backyard sprinkler, etc.). Maybe a movie date with the older kids (depending what's at the theatre). And next wknd wraps up with my High School reunion (family picnic & night out). Funny how when vacation is due, it feels overdue. I really need this time off. Need to recharge my batteries for sure!!!

Well, I best be off. See ya!

Feels like Summer!

The weekend turned out feeling like summer. We even talked about going to the beach. :) Yeah, talked about. We took the girls to the Marine Union's summer party at Atlantic Playland. It was overcast when we got there but brightened up around lunchtime. The girls did have a ton of fun though I could tell L was tired. E went on her first waterslide experience. I could see DH coaking her to go on with him, and her protesting. But once she got on, there were lots of "Weeee's" on the way down. When she hit the water at the bottom, she was so shocked by the cold, she started crying. It was a sin to watch, but hilarious at the same time. She'll survive. Both girls got a kick out the merry-go-round. And E surprised me by going on big rides like the Tilt-a-whirl and the Ferris wheel. What a brave girl I've got!! I'm glad cause I like both rides (though I didn't go on any yesterday...someone's gotta take picks and keep the baby company). hehehe

Oh, DH went to KISS with a buddy. I got voted off his list. :P Oh well, I was just as happy to stay out of the crappy weather. Anyway, they had a fun time. And Friday we did late night training which was really helpful. Sort of. I still lack confidence but I am working on it! Well, tonight I have no plans which is great! Maybe mow the lawn, or start packing for vacation (all you moms know early packing = less panic and headaches). :) Whatever you do tonight, get out and enjoy the sunshine!!!

Flexibility

Now before you get all snicker-y, I'm not talking about putting my leg behind my head, or anything like that. ;) No, just that it's my thought for the day about being flexible and adapting to what life throws at you. It's been a tough week staying positive at work with the AC not working. Surprising how quick the heat affects your mood. Anyway, we got through it and we're much cooler today. Thank God! Then last night E woke up screaming from a nightmare. DH brought her in bed with us so it was cramped and I didn't sleep well. Oh, and L woke TWICE for bottles. Yet, I managed to get through the day. And tonight DH and I were tag-teaming while MIL is out for choir/church, but he just got called to a meeting. So now overtired mama has to figure out a quicky supper and take care of my 2 dolls alone. UGH!

The more I read what I write, the more I'm realizing how negative I am. I don't like it. I'm a such a complainer. I had 2 people talk to me this week about it. I hadn't meant to get on anyone's case, just bitchin'. But I guess other people don't see it that way. Hmm...makes me wonder if that's the route of everything. I'm the victim I never wanted to be with the constant "poor me" blues. I often blamed it all on being sleep deprived, or stressed financially, or frustrated with the kids. And then I look around at other moms who have the same issues and aren't this way. One of my great galpals has been working really hard to lose weight. She's doing awesome! She's lost probably 60 pounds since the fall. So what's my excuse? She has 2 kids like me, lots of responsibilities, works outside the house, and she does it all with a smile. So what's my excuse?

I keep saying I'm going to change my life, but it's just words. I really need to sit down and make a plan to figure it out. The other night I heard a guy say something to the affect that 'a plan without action is nothing.' And that's exactly what I'm doing. A whole lot of nothing. So, time to start doing something! Choose goals and make a road map to get there. With that said, I better get planning.

TTFN!

A Whole Week!!!!

My goodness I am such a slacker! Sorry it's been so long. I guess I kinda forgot to check in. So, I'll give you a quick recap of the past week:

Thurs - I went for my pedi, loved it!
Fri - Primerica gala, lots of fun, yummy food, my trainer got lots of recognition.
Sat - Paul McCartney concert - ranked as the best concert to date of my life!!!!!!
Sun - Recouperated from previous night's concert...sore legs, feet.
Mon - AC is down at work; ran through the sprinkler when I got home. :)
Tues - Day 2 of no AC; getting cranky, trying to cope.
Wed - ...

Today, we're on day 3 of no AC. It was 25 Celsius this am when I got in to work and it's just a climbin'! And of course my capris (2 pairs) are in the wash so I'm wearing long pants, and wish I was naked...sort of. I don't want to flash my co-workers but would love to be more comfy. Looking really forward to some vacation time. Just 9 more sleeps!!! We're going to CB for the Whitty reunion July 24-26 and I'm going to CB with the kids July 27-Aug 3.

Oh, here's some news, DH got called back to work. He's excited about the opportunity to talk with his work buddies about his new business. Plus, it'll be great to get some more cash flow. He messed up on filing his EI last week so his poggie didn't come till today...just in time for me to pay all the bills...YEAH!!! Pretty sad when that's good news to me. :) So yeah, he's going back on Mon (20th). Fortunately he has a floater holiday coming up so he can still go to the reunion but he'll skip the Sydney trip. Which reminds me, I'll have to arrange for a pick up at Englishtown with my folks.

I think I could really use the time off. It's been a stressful month. I need a break. Oh, and the reunion got straightened out. Between me and 2 gals who offered to help, we decided that we're having a family picnic and a night on the town. Done! Hurray!!! It's tough to please everyone. And honestly, I shouldn't have offered to take it on. I couldn't put the effort into it to do anything big. But at least we're doing something.

Well, I suppose I should go. TTFN!

Blue Skies Shinin' on Me!

Today is certainly a turn around for the week. Yesterday was chaotic but less than the day before. I had a really bright spot yesterday when DH took me shopping for a dress. That may not sound like a big deal but the last time I wore a dress was…hmmm…Emma’s baptism? That was ’05. Yip, that’s right…and it was a short so I wore capri pants underneath. So that last real dress I wore was at my brother’s wedding. Yeah, I don’t wear dresses often. But we have a gala dinner to go to at Primerica on Friday night and I needed a little confidence boost. Tomorrow I’m going for a pedi (Mother’s Day gift certificate) and Friday I’m getting my hair trimmed. So I’ll be all spiffed up for the party. :)

Anyway, back to today. I’m having a great day so far. Did I mention about the high school reunion organizing? Yeah, the dance fell through. However, after chatting with 2 gals from home, I found out that a gal is organizing a HAH reunion for 1977-84. I asked if we could tag along to some of the events. And the girls & I talked about a picnic at Two River’s wildlife park. So, looks like something will come together after all. *sigh* Thank goodness because I was about to pass on the whole thing and say the hell with it.

Well, I guess I better run.

Get Me Outta Here!

Fridays are normally nuts for us.
Fridays when the boss is out? More nuts than usual.
Friday when the boss is out and we get 2 requests for Paul McCartney promos to begin Saturday? Yeah, over the edge! It's hard being polite and saying "no problem" when you're obviously being inconvenienced. The top dog says (after rewrite #4), "You probably want to tell me to f-off and write it myself." I said I was passed that point, with humour of course. But it's true. I'm under pressure, so I'm sure he feels like he's caught in a vice. No fun for anyone...except the listeners who could win tickets, right?

Well forget that crap cause I'm leaving early. Figured I've earned it since I worked through lunch on those damn things. Plus, DH locked the keys in the van in Bayers Lake. Now MIL had to get off early, pick me up (cause I have keys) and we unlock the van for DH. What a site! Hey, at least we'll be off early and can pick up the girls early. Oh, and bonus, no need to print the bulletins tonight. I misunderstood. There's no bulletin for July...only 1 more for August and then I'm off the hook. So, tonight's free. Tomorrow I'm taking E to Ice Age at the movie teeder. :) And tomorrow night I'm taking Megan & Shay to the Thunder from Down Under. And Sunday I'm going to the Tattoo...which is nice since I gave up my other tickets. Good things come to those who give free tickets to friends. :)

Well, hope the sun shows up sometime this wknd! Take care,
~B

Eeyore

I totally feel like my tail is barely stuck on. More like I'm draggin' my ass. Hard having a day off in the middle of the week. It totally throws you off. Guess I shouldn't complain, but I do it so well. :)

We kept Canada Day pretty low key. DH went into the office for training. MIL & I took the girls to the Legion for BBQ and fun. If you call fun waiting 20 minutes for a 2 minute jump in the bouncy castle. Terrible! E got to sit in a firetruck and fish in the prize pond, so that was kinda fun for her. After the BBQ we went for ice cream, that made her very happy. Then we went home for naps. E slept till 5!!!! I got about an hour's nap in the morning and about 2 in the afternoon, so I was really blessed. We had BBQ ribs for supper (a real treat!) and DH & I went to see Transformers in the evening. A pretty nice day despite the dismal weather...which everyone is plenty sick of. I really hope the summer gets better than this!

Well, off home tonight. Nothing on the go. Wrapping up July's bulletin for the church. We're doing just 1 for July and 1 for August, then I'm off the hook in September. We have a new admin assistant who's taking over (which is fine by me). Well, that's about all my news. Enjoy the crap-tacular weather. :)
