Readership down

With one reader on vacation and another who's an on-the-go-girl, it's hard to get motivated to blog. And of course, it's not like I have anything exciting to share, just my daily ramblings. But I'm here.

Tuesday night, DH did the sanding but the paint hasn't made it to the ceiling/walls/trim/bed. Poor DH will have to tackle all of it alone if E's going in her new room when we get back. Last night, DH & I went out on a "date" to see The Simpson's. It was really funny, we had a nice time. Tonight we're visiting DH's family again, this time in Bedford at his Aunt's. Should be fun. And tomorrow night we're off to CB. So, if you're looking for postings, don't bother checking next week. No internet access at Mom's and I'm not going to bother using SIL's dial up.

That's it for me today. Chat at ya later.

No sanding last night...

...pour MIL & DH were caught in traffic and didn't get in till after 8. What a site! E & I didn't do much, cause I was tired. Supper, bath and vegged till they got home. I had just enough steam to get the lunches together, do a wash and get the dish washer loaded. I finally got the gumption to get a shower and went to bed. Hopefully tonight the traffic won't be so bad and we can get the sanding and possibly priming done. Our nights are dwindling down and I want E to be sleeping in her new room once we get back from CB.

Nothing new today. Going to run errands at lunch. Feeling a bit sluggist. Wish I could have a nap...maybe if I crawl under my desk. :) Hmm...that's about it. Guess I'll get going. Hope ya have a great day.

Back at 'er.

Monday's here again. Boy, I can't wait for vacation!! Just 4 more days!!!! I'm off all next week...yippee!! We're going to CB Friday night and E & I are staying till Labour Day wknd. So, this week we're working on her new room. We got the paint, curtain material, rug, sheets, accessories, etc. Last night we puttied so tonight we'll sand and possibly prime and/or paint the ceiling. I am so excited to do this room for her. I hope she likes it! My hope is that she'll be in her new room when we get back. Even if we don't get all the finishing touches done till later, that's fine. I have cute wallies (wallpaper flowers) and her name in wooden letters (to be painted). So that's the lowdown on her room.

The wknd was fun, and restful. Friday night we went to the party at DH's coworker...not so much a poker game, more of a drink fest. It was hard convincing him, but I did get my drunk darling to leave with me around midnight...so tired! Sat we ran errands and made a quick trip to Emergency before going to DH's uncle (E had a reaction to a fly bite near her eye and swelled up...nothing serious in the end). Sun, the sun finally came out and we went to The Dingle for picnic and playground after church. And that's our wknd all wrapped up.

Well, I must be off. Hope you have a good one.

Must've been a Heavenly Bowling Tournament

Could you believe that??? For those who aren't in HRM, we had a HUGE thunderstorm last night. I hadn't heard of Prairie lightening before but last night was my first exerience. It's when lightening strikes every few seconds. The flashes were 5 seconds apart, the thunder rolled at times and had a few big bangs. It was crazy. Fortunately, E slept through it...not sure how but she did. DH & I watched the light show from 3:30 till 4 I guess. It calmed down and started up again around 4:30...I think. I was too tired to watch anymore. So I'm a bit tired today but more glad that Friday is here...even if it's wet and rainy.

DH & friends enjoyed the movie last night...The Last Legion. Wished I didn't have to miss it. Oh well, video. Tonight DH & I are going to his coworkers for a poker night. Really excited since I love to play (if not that well) and it's a chance to get to know the people he works with better. I'm running to Costco at lunch to pick up munchies. They have the best pita chips!! And I'll make 2 Epicure dips. Plus tomorrow night I'm making my Cheesy Spinach & Artichoke dip...served warm. SO DELICIOUS!!! It's a Weight Watcher recipe too, which means you can just eat more of it. :) Well, hope you have a FAB weekend. Stay dry.

One more day!!

Again, I must profess my love for Thursday's. I got a great sleep last night, the sun's shining and the weekend starts tomorrow!!! Plus, had a really yummy lunch today. Curves' Maple Turkey salad. The recipe is simple (not sure I can remember it completely). It's just greens, tomato, cheddar, sesame seeds and turkey breast. The vinegrette is sugar-free syrup, raspberry vinegar, olive oil, salt and basil. Holy cow, it was tasty. I made just enough for me and I'll make 2 more tonight for lunch for DH & I tomorrow.

Tonight I'm flying solo. MIL is staying at a friend's overnight and DH is going to a premiere. I thought it might be fun to do a girly night with E. One of the girls at daycare had painted toes today. Maybe we can do our hands and feet. I haven't put nail polish on her yet so hopefully it goes well. The wknd should be exciting. Not sure what's up for Friday but Sat night we're getting together with DH's family. His uncle's down from out west. We're all going to another uncle's house for bbq. Somewhere in there DH will have to change the wheel baring again. I'd like to get E's new room "puttied" so we can sand through the week. I also have to get paint so DH can do it while we're away.

Well, must get going. I have a chiro-back-cracker appt. soon.

Sugary sweet...BLAH!

Pregnancy has all kinds of fun stuff associated with it...like having a Trutol test. Every have one? I'm sure you must've. Go to the blood lab, try to choke down this over sugared "orange crush" drink, wait an hour, THEN go back and get your blood taken. Fun. I was fine till I read "may cause nausea and vomiting." Nice! I am so mind over matter when it comes to nausea so I convinced myself to ignore it and enjoy the fact that I FINALLY got to put some "food" into me. Oh, did I mention you have to fast overnight before doing this. Anyway, got the blood work done, back to work and wolfed down my breaky.

So, last night was a really great night. I made a quick grilled ham & cheese for E's supper than started my labour-ous supper. I sat down at 6 to eat...and wasn't even fond of what I was eating. It's a no-pasta salad Curves has in their menu. Pre-preggers, I loved it. Now, not so much. I think the artichoke hearts (which I love) threw me off. I have it again for my lunch today just to try it out...but it's still sitting there...and Tarek's salad across the street is calling me. Anyway, after supper, E agreeably had a bath, got dressed and watched a bit of TV...Toopie & Bino are her ABSOLUTE FAV now. She gets mad when it's over and yells at me to "do it again." I try explaining it's the TV programing what's on air, not me...which is a totally illogical concept for a 2 year old. (hehe) We didn't end up reading before bed...just to busy getting her snack, etc., which was fine since I was running out of steam. She went to bed without a fuss too. What a dream night...we need more like those.

Oh, and it continued today. She did have one awake moment at 5:30...cold I think. I covered her up and screamed "daddy". But when he went in, she was no better. Not sure how he calmed her down but he was back within a few mins and she was asleep. When I got her up, she was a bit fussy...just from me waking her (we had to leave in 5 mins). Anyway, she did come around quickly for me...amazing!!! And here's the funny part. I dropped her to daycare and was chatting with one of the "teachers". E, twice, said "go to work." So friggin' funny! It made me smile all the way in...which was nice since I knew the sugar drink was coming. ;) Well, I best be off. Nothing exciting on the go tonight, just veggin'. Hope you get some smiley moments today!

Opportunities to be patient

...and we're trying hard to practice patience. More developments on the financial front make you want to throw up your hands and scream give up. But I'm trying to step back and be patient. I won't forget the words of a wise priest from my family's church. He refered back to a story about Jesus teaching his disciples about patience/worry. Jesus pointed out some birds close by and said something like, 'Why do you worry? Even the birds do not worry about where their food comes from. Don't you know that the Lord will provide for you?' If you have strong faith, this rings so true. But you think in this day and age, with all the problems we have it may not hold water. Really though, it's true. It seems like we've kept our heads just above water for years now...but we always manage to stay afloat. Even now when it's up to our ears, we're still working on it.

Anyway, enough of that. At home, I'm working on patience with family. E has been easier the last week. She has her moments, and so do I, but it's coming. And we're all working on taking better care of ourselves. Eating right takes more work, but again, when we all pitch in and have patience, we're all better off. It's full circle really. All interconnected. And amazing.

Well, I better shove off. Have patience with yourself today, and with others. You may need the break.

Perking up!

Which is great on a Monday. Funny how when a bunch of ducks get in a row...makes you feel a ton better. DH & I met with 2 different banking places Saturday (thank you Jesus for wknd banking hours!!!!!). Anyway, looks like we "may" have a plan...just checking with our mortgage guy. We still are looking into meeting with another bank in a week's time. Doesn't hurt to explore all avenues. Anyway, there's promise there and that's reassuring.

The wknd was nice and laid back...sort of. :) Friday we vegged out at home. Sat a.m., DH & I went bank hopping and for groceries. Then we went to Hubbards for my work summer party...lots of fun. Sunday a.m. we packed a picnic lunch and went to the lake beach for about an hour and a half...then an ice cream stop on the way home. I skipped my nap and DH & I cleared out the computer (soon to be Emma's) room. Only things left in there are her new mattress and bedding and a table. We shipped much of the stuff to the garage but it's totally stuffed, so we reorganized about 1/3 of it. We're going to try to tackle it an hour a night to get all the garbage out and ready for a dump run on the wknd. And we have a Habitat for Humanity pile for their Re-store...home improvement stuff (left over shingles, etc.) Oh, and the sell pile too. May try kijiji (as per Mark's suggestion) and we may do a yard sale sometime for the little things (if there's not enough, I'll drop it to the Sally Ann).

So, today I started Curves 6 wk solution again, as per my nutritionists advice. DH joined in as well. And I did a weigh and measure (uggg). Hopefully we'll yield some good results. Well, guess I better get at it. Hope y'all have a great Monday.

Ho hum.

Just having one of those days. Got TOO much on my mind. Hard to shut it off. Need to win the lotto. :) Doesn't everyone? hehehe I'm tired too so that's draining me. At least the sun is shining. The van's giving us more trouble. It wouldn't start this morning after I got out of Curves. DH thinks the battery is going/being drained. Just one more thing to lob on top of the pile. I just want to forget it all and just enjoy the wknd. We've got my work's summer party Sat night. Lobster dinner and dance. Looking forward to it. Just wish I could have a few drinks. :) Well, hope y'all are doing alright. Chat with you Monday.

I have no business...

...blogging today! I am so super busy with so much on my plate...and I'll I really want to do is go home and go to bed. Lord knows how I'm going to get on late in this pregnancy.

Wed was crazy busy. I was out to my OBGYN in the a.m....baby's doing great. Then playing catch up at work. Picked E up from daycare and met DH and Dan (his co-worker) at Kempsters for dinner. The guys were going to a movie but DH worked OT the night before and thought a visit with him would do her (and I) good. Nice meal, not fantastic (get what you pay for). E & I went home, bathed her and got her in bed. Then I crashed in my room channel surfing till bedtime.

Today is more of the same. Busy, busy at work (again, no business blogging). Nothing going on tonight. Looking forward to the wknd and getting more sleep. SO FRIGGIN' TIRED. I think it's the weather. Well, gotta go.

Natal Day blowout!!

Well, what a lovely weekend we had! Friday DH & I were busy prepping. Got groceries, had supper, mowed/raked the lawn then collapsed. :) Sat, we spent time with E and I did some baking for Sunday. DH went to Enfield to work the bar at a reception with his cousin. Sun a.m., E & I set up the backyard for the party, then went to church. DH came home shortly after. We ate, napped a bit and anxiously awaited our guests. We got our "new to us" swingset up, the slide, the big pool and our huge tent! Oh, and chairs around the fire pit.

Company came around 4ish. We started off with a BBQ...yummy!! DH & I had "13 dollar" t-bones (clearly wrongly priced). We all enjoyed salad, loaded baked potatoes, rolls, and Mark's inspired yummy dessert (homemade tea biscuits with vanilla frozen yogourt and topped with Mark's whiskey sauce). DELISH!!! Then we played for a bit and got the fire going...smore time!! The 2 youngest went inside for bed and the rest of us enjoyed the fire, fireworks and the adults (aside from moi) had drinks. We slept under the stars in our new tent...which was lovely, except it was damp by morning. Oh, and that whole making 3 trips to the bathroom wasn't fun for me. But still, it was a blast.

Monday morning, I was up around 7 making 2 batches of pancakes, plain and blueberry. Plus we had a "Wife Savers" in the oven, bacon, biscuits, banana muffins, watermelon. It was a grand buffet! We ate to our hearts content. Some brave souls got in the pool...friggin cold but the kids loved it. It was soon after that Sara (who grew up in Hatchet Lake) told us about the beach that's 5 minutes from us!!! 4 years in HL and this is the first time I heard about it!!!! We all packed up around suppertime and headed to the beach. It was awesome! We could've been dropping by every night/wknd!!! Everyone parted ways at the beach. It was a great wknd for sure. Gives us some ideas for next year (we think this will be an annual event).

What a week!!

We're working ahead because of the long wknd so I've been busy. Here's the recap so far:

Tuesday: went for my 2nd ultrasound. It was a long wait and for just a 15 minute visit. Right down to business. Get in, take pics, get out. Still, I got a bit of a glimpse of the baby. Not clear enough to see anything "particular." :) Oh if I had money to burn, I'd be down to UC Baby in a flash.

Wednesday: went to Shay & Mark's for supper. What a great time we had! The meal was fab, even if Mark accidentally burnt the potatoes...I still ate em. :) We also had succulent ribs, fresh corn, sweetened carrots, all kinds of sides and the finishing touch - biscuits with van ice cream and whiskey sauce. It's was awesome!! DH got WAY TOO drunk, but he had so much fun. I hated to ruin it by leaving but at 11:30, I was done, and then had to drive the half hour home. I think next time he'll get my drift when I say "we've gotta go." I left the house, drove the van 2 houses up, parked and waiting. 5 mins later he came out thinking I have gone home. He was going to run home. :) He ran right passed me. I tooted the horn and he climbed in, head in is hands, and annoyed the heck out of me the whole way home. It was very comical...just wanted him to stop tickling me for fear of going off the road. Little bugger.

Anyway, today the van's in to get the AC repaired. What we thought was a $500ish job is now a $900ish job. Really disappointing but we HAVE to get it done. See, it's not just the AC but the window defogger. We can't go without that. So, we'll slap it on the credit card and hope this is it for repairs for now. Tonight DH is working OT so it'll be just the ladies. Likely we won't be doing much since I'll likely be very tired. Anyway, gotta run.

TTFN!
