Last Haa-raw!

Hi peeps. Just a quick one today. I'm not staying at work long. This cold finally got me beat down. I've got sinus pressure, runny/raw nose, now starting to cough. So I'm just stopping into work to wrap up a few things, and then hit the road. Hope y'all have a great week. I'll blog my adventures on the tropical Island of CB when I get back. TTFN!!!

Ripping through the day

I'm just motoring along today, trying to take care of my accounts before I'm off on vakay. So far, it's not looking too bad. 10 things outstanding. I've got emails in to everyone. Hopefully between today and tomorrow, I'll get word back. Otherwise, the boys will have to handle things for me.

So, still feeling snotty. I'm getting pretty annoyed since I'm not able to breathe through my left nostril. You think they'd take turns for a while, sharing breaths, but alas, no. Still taking the Advil C&S...thank goodness! I may have to take more soon. I'll see how it goes. Since I'm feeling rotten I skipped my morning exercise. That and I was out till 10:30 last night. Had a nice visit with Cyndi. Hope to get together with her more often.

I started a packing list on the computer for our trip. I'm all about the lists. I think I should have done this AGES ago, that way I could print it off every time we go away. Way better than trying to make a mental note of a billion things (okay, I'm exaggerating). Still, my memory hasn't been good since I had kids...or probably before then. Tonight I'll finish the girls, get mine done, and the extras (air bed, playpen, baby bottles, etc.) so tomorrow we can go right after supper. I just hope the girls will sleep most of the way. (Bring on the Gravol!) hehehe

I'll probably get time to sign off tomorrow. Till then.

Ramblings

Okay, I warn you in advance that this is very much a rambling. Last night I fell asleep at 9…yeah, not kidding. I was so tired, I forgot to set my alarm. Woke up late at 6:20…no morning work out. But I actually got the girls to daycare early…which was great cause I realized I had no earrings. Stopped at Walmart and found a ton of earrings on sale. Got 6 pairs for $12 and change. Got to work, feeling kinda crappy. I’m fighting off something. Once the Advil C&S kicked in, I felt a bit better…but I switched my morning coffee for hot water with lemon & honey (scratchy throat). I was supposed to have a job shadow for an hour this morning but he didn’t end up coming.

Got out at lunchtime to pick up a few odds & ends. I had a craving for sushi so I skipped the ribs in my lunch and will have at supper. While I’m out, the van locks are doing something wonky. (Happened on the way to work too.) Called DH and he said it’s likely the alarm system (which we never use). FB’ed a bit to see if I was getting together with Megan tonight. She’s too tired so I’ll head over to Cyndi’s (from church) to chat about the bulletin (she’s covering it while I’m away). And I worked on the bulletin for a bit too. So, that’s pretty much been my day. Nothing really interesting.

Only 2 more sleeps till CB…really excited about that…so I’ll be Internet-deprived for the week. :( No FB and no blog make Bern go something, something. Hehehe
TTFN kids!

The Last Kick at the Shovel

...or so we hope. I truly thought we were all done with this winter crap. But we're getting more snow today. It doesn't look like much yet but we'll see. I'm hoping the drive home won't be too bad. I had a meeting tonight and it's cancelled. Guess we'll hunker down as usual.

So, we had an easy peasy wknd. Not much going on. I wasn't feeling up to doing much so staying home was fine with me. DH and I didn't do our date after all. It was a tiniest bit of a let down till I got in my comfy jammies. :) We'll (fingers crossed) get some date nights in next week. I'm hoping he doesn't get called to work (I know, how silly) so he can come to CB with us next week. We plan on leaving Friday after work. I hope he does get called for an interview with Lawton's this week but DH's having a hell of a time trying to track down the manager. And there's always the threat of jury duty (next Monday is the last potential day...gosh I hope it's cancelled!). So, lots up in the air with him. We'll see how things go.

I FINALLY got together with Megan yesterday. It was nice, though a short visit...in the mall, with 2 eager girlies (who would have done better in a play area I'm sure). But I did get a summer dress for E's b-day party. I was going to do the all out princess dress...but it was WAY to expensive. So went for the dress on sale. It's got spagetti straps and a little crinoline (sp?) in the skirt of the dress. Oh, and a matching headband, also on sale. She looked so cute! So, it's not the "dress up" princess dress I hoped for but it's sweet just the same. That's about all my news. I started packing (yes, already) for the big trip to Granny & Poppy's. When there are 3 to pack for, you start early. Plus, you get to see how much laundry you have to do before you go. :)

Drive safe tonight!

SPRING HAS FINALLY SPRUNG!!!!!

Gloria halleluiah! What a glorious start to the weekend. The sun is shining, the days are longer. It seemed like forever but spring is finally here. I’m definitely looking forward to some downtime. Not much planned. You know the usual. I’m supposed to be going on a date with DH but not sure when. MIL kinda spoiled the surprise on him. Hehehe Hey, any night out, surprise or not, is fine by me. It’s nice getting some couple time in and we’re lucky to do it on a semi-regular basis.

If you’re looking for a great date night, Empire Theatre’s “Bring a friend for $1.99” is coming back. Starting Monday (Mar 23-Apr 5) you pay full price and your friend pays $1.99 (if you’re going to the same movie, same time). Or make them pay and you get the deal. ;) Lucky for me, I’m off during the 2nd week of the deal and at home in CB. I’m thinkin’ we’ll be going a few times that week.

Well, I’m too pooped to write much. Have a fan-diddily-dan-tastic wknd!!

Sluggish

That's exactly how I feel today. Partly because of the rain, I'm sure. Partly cause 5:30 came too early. Man, I could easily have a catnap on my keyboard...though I'd have a waffle-print cheek. hehehe At least I'm have a good day. Productive, in more ways than one. I went to Superstore at lunch for socks and onesies for L. I feel like she's finally growing. :) Anyway, found a Megablok piano for her on sale $12!! And I got an easle for E, originally $58.99, on for $19.99!!! Yeah, Christmas shopping in March!!

Back to L, I must tell you my little thrill. Yesterday she surprised me by putting her arms out to me when I put her down in her daycare room. I picked her up, we had a long snuggle (her head on my shoulder...so adorable!), put her down and she was on her merry way. Today, same thing, cept she didn't cuddle in so much and when I past her over to her teacher, she CRIED for me. 7 months nearly to the day, and she finally cries for me! I must say, it's much better than crying the first day. I can appreciate her missing me now...instead of thinking she's "suffering" without me. So I'm really looking forward to picking her up today...though she usually runs away from me then. hehehe

Last night I went through this big bag in L's room. It's full of clothes I'm waiting for her to grow into. When E was a toddler, her clothing size was double her age (if she was 6 mths, she was in 12 mth clothes). L is 15 months and just venturing into size 18 mths. Such a little imp! And I went through 4 huu-mun-gus bags of stuff from my aunt-in-law. There's still a huge box of games to go through too. Busy night folding and sorting. Not much time for anything else. So tonight, I'm taking it easy...and Grey's is on too. I may just skip my morning workout since I'll be up late. Well, I should run. Hope ya have a great night!

My Weeknight Drinkin' Days are over, me thinks.

How is your St. Patty’s Day hangover??? Fortunately, I stopped at one beer…and had Bailey’s in my coffee this a.m. ;) So, yeah, uneventful night at the O’Whittys. I picked up some choc coins for the girls…who were delighted! L wolfed hers down quicker than lightening! That’s my girl. Hehehe One of E’s classmates gave cookies out so that made her happy. After dinner and treats, the gals & I had a bath in the bubbly tubby. Then it was pjs, bottle/stories and bed. I read for a while but turned the lights out by 9. I know, what a wimp!

Tonight, hubby’s got a meeting. Yeah, I get to use the computer at home!! I need to get on it to help me practice a few songs. Our choir director can send me mp3s of the songs we’re doing. Way cool, and helpful. Other than that, reading again and bed. Well, hope you had fun in the sunshine!

TTFN!

P.S. Chris, you're a friggin' riot! With all that heat in Texas, you ain't missin' a thing in NS. Cept yours truly, of course. :)

Top of the Evenin' to ya!

Hurray, it’s St. Patty’s Day! I only wish we were a little more prepared for it. The last 2 years, we had an annual St. Patty’s Day party. This year I wasn’t on the ball enough. But we were sick and I didn’t get organized. So, we’re just celebrating at home with Guinness for Dad, Smithwick’s for Mama, Bailey’s for Nana, and chocolate coins for the girlies. I half thought of doing an Irish stew with lamb, but we’ve got boiled dinner instead. Good enough for this year. Maybe we’ll bring back the party next year if the budget allows.

So, had a productive evening singing last night. We worked on some really nice harmonies. And MIL and I are working on solo (sort of) parts. (The whole choir sings the chorus and MIL & I sing the verses.) Oh, forgot to mention that I’m doing a cantor (solo) part on Holy Thursday mass (Ubi Caritas). And I’m doing a psalm at the Vigil. I’m getting much more confident to do the solos. I bombed a line in the psalm (and I’m not being critical…I really bombed it) 2 weeks ago. I completely lost the tune to one of the lines in the verse (which is done a capella) and faked it horribly. But hey, I didn’t care. I just kept going and finished it like nothing happened. I wanted to burst out laughing when I got back to my seat.

Oh, and guess what I did today??? I got up EARLY and worked out!!! I got such an energy boost…which was really needed. E woke with a nightmare. I ran in to calm her and totally woke up…at 3 a.m.!! It took me till 4 before I fell back asleep. Then up at 5:30. UGH! Anyway, I did it. Oh, and the best news: I’m down 4.4 pounds. I ate chips, cupcakes, drank wine but I followed that book by Paul McKenna. I ate when I was hungry, ate whatever I wanted, ate slowly, and stopped when I was full. So simple. I feel so silly that it took this long for me to figure it out. And since I’m not deprived, I don’t binge. Plus, in his book, he works a lot on changing your negative feelings to positive, which leads to feeling better about yourself. I find it really remarkable. Pretty amazing when I thought it was the dumbest idea to buy the book. I’m so glad I did. It’s been a God-send, truly.

Well, I best be off. Hope you have a fun day. Eat something green…unless it’s been in back of the fridge for too long. Hehehe

What a Drag!

Monday morning is totally a drag. Wish our work week started on Tuesday...though then I'd be bitching about that I suppose. I managed to be busy all day so that helped it move by quickly. Tonight I have choir practice so that will eat up my night. Ah well. And I was finally going to get back to exercising. :) Maybe I'll whip up some energy somehow. I thought I'd might do the Wii in the morning instead...so that I'd actually do it. I'm a bit worried of waking up the girls. Hmm...guess I could just try it out. Up at 5:30...that's gonna suck. But then I'd have my evening free, which would be great. There are so many meetings and other stuff going on at night, it would really free up my time. Okay, we'll see how tomorrow goes. Guess it means I'll have to be in bed by 10 for definite.

Speaking of Drag...have you seen RuPaul's Drag Race. One of the wonderful things about Lent is you can break from it on Sundays. :) The show is on Much Music and it's hilarious and fun. What those dolls go through is beyond what any woman would do, I'm sure! Give it a watch next week. Lots of fun. Wish I could get glammed up like that once in a while. Last night I totally bugged out on TV from 8-10. Kind of nice to check out for a bit. I got 5 pages done at scrapping, which was good since I was late. I've decided to get the imprinting kit and am going to send 4 albums to get titles on the front/spine. Plus, I found out that if you order a new album, you can have it imprinted and save yourself $25 in shipping costs.

Other than TV and scrapping, we had a "games" night party at Steve & Rhonda's. We were the only 2 who showed. We played Yatzee and drank a boat load of wine...hangover! But it was great fun.

Well, gotta run. Hope you had a great wknd.

Oh Glorious Friday!!!

I’m going to the end of a busy, productive weekend. And let me tell you, I’ll looking forward to the break. I was up late last night watching Grey’s (FINALLY a new episode) which was awesome…and working on my desk calendar. I was on September when Grey’s was over and had to stay up to finish. Got to bed around midnight. Then E crawled in around 4 after having a nightmare. I have a real hard time sleeping with kids…especially when there are 2 big bodies and 1 little one in a Queen…and the little one’s hogging the middle. :) I did get back to sleep but I’m still tired. I told myself that no matter what, I’d get through the day (positive thinking) but I can tell I’m getting more worn out as the day passes.

So DH’s news…and it seems to be changing daily. Okay, so he went for safety training yesterday. Rumour is they’re looking to hire people to paint the bridge(s?). And now there are rumours around painting the oil rigs (not something you want to think about after yesterday’s news). Anyway, it’s a possibility. And logically, as long as you’re in your safety harness and being careful, it’s unlikely you’ll get injured. You never know what can happen though, whether working on the bridge or a rig. But same goes for driving to work. Anyway, it’s something to think about. The other possibility is getting on at Lawton’s. He sent his resume to the head office for the in-home elevator installer position. And he’s going to hand his resume to the location manager (today I think…if he’s feeling well enough…sick with a cold/cough). At Lawton’s he’d be working with his old buddy Greg from Medichair. Plus, DH loved the work. So, again, lots to think about.

Well, no big plans for the wknd…except scrapping on Sunday. I may/may not make it to choir practice. My voice isn’t gone, but cracking bad. We’ll see if it gets better tomorrow. Hope you got lots of fun stuff planned for March Break next week. I wish that adults got MB too! I’m taking a week off Mar 30-Apr 3 and going to CB. Not long now!!! Have a good one!

Treasure Chest

Remember I was kept wondering where my Secret book was? Well, I had a few other lost things to add to the list. Pictures of my late FIL (for hubby’s scrapbook), my CM sort box (with a ton of old pics inside), and just yesterday, I was trying to figure out what I did with my scrapped desk calendar (also CM stuff). So, at our house we’re definitely lacking storage. And when I say that, I’m not joking in any way. Picture this: my 3 bedroom+den, 1-level house is about 1200 sq. ft., and it’s home to 5 people…2 of which are kids with all kinds of toys…and a husband who loves his computer and Star Wars toys (really, a 3rd kid…hehehe)…and a mama who scrapbooks and has all the gadgets…and a MIL who moved from her 2 bdr apartment into our house. NUFF SAID, right? I know some of this is definitely our doing…all our toys…but this is our reality of what we can afford at the moment.

ANYway, we don’t have night stands in our room. Instead, DH uses the “plastic dresser” which has computer storage and I’ve been using a storage bin. Yesterday I wondered what was in there…thinking it was summer clothes or maybe the old toys. I got quite a surprise when I opened it up. A treasure trove indeed! The Secret book, the sort box, FIL’s pics, my desk calendar, and a ton of other stuff…all right under my nose. I felt a bit stupid for a while…then realized what a blessing it was to find it. I think tonight I may do a new calendar for my desk (not too time consuming of a project). Anyway, that was my thrill for yesterday.

BTW, sorry to be so absent this week. If you saw on FB, I was home sick Mon & Tues. Got that stomach flu again which kicked in on Saturday night while at Shay & Mark’s. I was so mad! They had a blast playing Rock band while I was puking, etc. Hmm…what other excitement? Oh, we got the bunk beds (Too good of a deal to pass up. Thank goodness for MIL who loaned us the $$.) DH set them up on Tues. E LOVES, LOVES, LOVES them. The first night, she ended up on the bottom bunk but last night, she slept the entire night on the top. My little girl is getting so big!! We did end up moving the radiator (Thanks for the advice Shay! We had just enough slack to move it down with 2 inches to spare.). I much rather the room layout now. I’ll post pics on FB sometime soon.

Well, that’s about it. DH has the van today (he went for a safety course with the painters union…more on that tomorrow). And tomorrow he has it again to drop a resume to Lawton’s. He’s applying for an opening to install in-home elevators (again, more on that tomorrow). Hope all of you are doing great! TTFN!

UPDATE

Silly me...I'm scrapping Sun so no skating for me. Maybe Daddy can take her. Anyone know any good places to go? I googled and there's public skates in Dart & Bedford but none in Hali. What's up with that?
~B

No New Grey's AGAIN!

I’m not impressed. Two weeks of reruns for Grey’s. UGH! Very frustrating. I went to bed instead. I should have worked out. I’ve meant to all week but was lazy Tues, out Wed, lazy/busy with other stuff last night. So tonight I have no excuse. At least I got L’s baby book up to date. Problem is you nearly forget everything you meant to put in. I got my stuff organized for scrapping too. I printed off all the pics for L’s “1st year” album and I’ve got all pics printed for the 2008 album. I’m surprised to be on top of things. And next year there’ll be just 1 album…no baby or heritage albums. I’m thinking I’ll do a few paper albums (smaller, for the grandparents). Nice Christmas gifts.

I really must find my mini picfolio album. It just occurred to me that it’s the thing that’s been missing from my desk! I made it into a calendar with pics of E from 2006 but with 2007 dates. Hmmm…should I make one for this year or skip and go to next year. Really, it doesn’t take much work so I could do it for this year. I’ll think it over. I can easily print off the months off. Only thing is it takes me away from the 2 big albums. Maybe I will, but save it for an evening project. I’m sure I could polish it off in a night or two. Okay, it’s decided.

So, I’m hoping to meet with Megan and kids tomorrow. But we were also going to drop in to Bedford to my aunt-in-law’s shop. We’re going to take them but want to check ‘em out first. Nothing going on Sat night and Sun’s open…though I was thinking about skating…possibly. I haven’t been on skates in 2 years, and before that, it was 10 years. I have a kids pair that may fit E and I have a pair but DH doesn’t. Maybe she and I could go. We’ll see how brave I get. Hard to teach a kid to skate when you can’t skate very well. Hehehe Well, I better run. Have a great wknd!!!

Rush, Rush

Well, as you can see I was too busy to blog at work today. Again, another productive day. A few last minute things came in so I was running the halls. We're having some email issues. It's getting looked in to.

Lets see, not much else is going on. Our "date night" turned into a bit of a dud. They always give out more passes than there are seats to the theatre, so it was full by the time we got there. But we did have a yummy supper at Bubba Rays (Spring Garden Road). They specialize in wings...tons, I mean TONS of different sauces. Worth the price. Go next time you're in the area, if you like wings. So, there we were wondering what the heck to do. We ended up going "window shopping" for bunk beds. (I know, so NOT kid related, eh Mari?) hehehehe What we discovered is...well, put it this way, it put us in our place. We are Walmart people for sure. Only $269 for bunkbeds there. Over $799 EVERYWHERE else. Fortunately, my aunt-in-law has a buy & sell place and we're getting a deal. The bunkbeds, mattresses AND night tables and they're from IKEA.

As you know, we don't have money to spare right now but income tax time is coming so we figure we'll get some $$ back on our return (with both of us on EI last year, and paying daycare bills, I dare say, we better get something back). I refuse to worry about it. I'm sure it'll all come out in the wash. Speaking of which, we just got out of the tubby about 10 mins ago and I gotta get E to bed...only 25 mins late, but who's counting. :) TTFN!

Last Minute Date Night

Howdy gang! Have a really great day today. I was super busy, but the good productive kind of busy. Got lots done on 1 particular campaign I was working on yesterday. They're psas for the station so there's a bit more creative element to it, so it was way fun! And this morning there was a sign up sheet for The Watchmen movie premiere. I got passes so DH & I are going on a date! Whoo hoo! Other than that, doing well with the no tv thing. I read for an hour and a half last night. I'm telling you, this hypnosis book is surprisingly worthwhile. I'm seeing things in a new way and already I'm feeling more positive about my body and my eating. I can't tell if I'm just more conscious of it or the hypnosis CD is having a definite impact. Either way, it's a great feeling. :)

Well, hope y'all are enjoying the sunshine! TTFN!

Cancelled....AGAIN??

Wow, wish I was a kid for the number of snow days. I’m sure school wasn’t cancelled near as much when I was a kid. I’m not about to break into a “I walked up hill to school, both ways” speech. But we walked in all kinds of weather. I remember rain storms, huge snow banks, the whole lot of it. And now everyone is so afraid of getting sued, they eat the cost by cancelling classes. Crazy! Well that’s enough crankin' over that!

So, very fun wknd with the kids. Friday is a blur…my memory is so bad! Saturday morning we took the girls to the reptile zoo. So much to see. Glad we went early cause the girls fizzled out pretty quick. We toured the room while the first (crowded) presentation went on. Great idea cause I got a ton of pics. We got to touch snakes, a tarantula and E got to pet Lady Chomps-a-lot. By 10:30 the girls were ready to go…and so were we. Dropped them home and ran to the store for eggs and rented a movie. I did choir and church in the afternoon, and we watched Wall-E with the fam. E really liked it.

Sunday Daddy & E went to church. I had practice with the Easter choir after lunch. Got back home and both girlies were up watching Wall-E again. Hehe. I worked on my sewing…you know that pile of things that need repair/hemming and sit there for say 4 months? Got 2 pairs of pants hemmed, 1 top fixed, E’s comforter patched up and her book bag “repaired” (cut the top handle off since it was frayed off on one side). After that, I rounded the girls up for a bubbly tubby. In the evening, I did some colouring with E. Both girls ended up in bed early since they didn’t nap in the afternoon. And that was my wknd. I really enjoyed the family time with the girls. Wish I was home for another day with them.

Well, I better jet. Gotta get groceries after work. I picked up a booster seat at lunch for Nana’s car, so that’ll help with pick up time. Have a good, soggy night. (Personally, I love seeing the van clean.)
