Anniversary alone...
...but I'm handling it okay. I don't mean to be pathetic...just miss my hunny. We did exchange "happy anniversary"s this morning on the phone. E talked to him on speaker...it was so cute. Anyway, we'll celebrate when he gets back.
So, you've heard I'm in stamping. Well I made a really nice card for DH last night. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE the embossing powder/heater. It makes the card look like it was professionally made, I think. I'll take pics after DH opens it. :) Anyway, really love card making.
Back to the anniverary. 4 years doesn't seem very long. But DH & I have been together for 14 years. I was 16 on our first date. It was April 8th/1992. DH & I knew each other. He was MBF Shay's cousin. And our parents knew each other. We just didn't see each other very often. Then one night, Shay invited him to one of her get togethers. 2 weeks later, he asked me out. I remember trying to be calm on the phone. Then I called Shay and was totally freaking.
DH & I stayed together for 2 years before he moved from Sydney to Halifax (5 hr drive away). We did the long distance thing for 2 more years till I moved to Halifax for university (Sept./95). 5 months later, DH moved to Calgary with his BF. We decided to go our separate ways and lived separate lives for over a year. We remained in touch and after 14 months, he called to say he was coming back to Halifax. I already planned to go to Toronto for a year for post grad school. So, back we were, long distance for a year.
In June, 2000, I moved back to Halifax to work. DH & I got engaged, moved in together and got married 2 years later. It's been a crazy adventure...2 trips to Ireland, 1 to Turkey, the birth of our first daughter...all in 4 years. After everything we've been through, I wouldn't change a thing. I love DH more everyday and can't wait to see what our future holds.

Happy Anniversary! Sorry you're celebrating alone today but I'm sure you guys will make up for it. Your story is sweet, you guys were meant to be together....ya know, I never knew that Shannon was related to your hubby!!!
Well, sort of related. DH's 2 uncles (Doug & Freeman) are married to Shay's 2 aunts (Judy & Flora Ann)...so they've always considered each other as cousins.
Hi Bern,
Thought I would stop in to check out your blog. What a beautiful love story **snif, sniff**. you guys are so cute
It has been such a pleasure for me to watch you guys grow and love as a couple. Happy Anniversary!! You are an inspiration to me ... the way you guys overcome obstacles and are always in each other's corner.
I love you both and little Em!!
