Winter takes Halifax by Storm
Everyone's sharing their horror stories of how long it took to get home. So far I think Anthony in production wins. It took him 4 hours just to get to the 101 (normally a 1/2 hour drive at the most). Then he had to drive to Kentville (which is about an hour away). It took him 5 hours to get home. I was stuck on North Street (which is like 5 minutes away from work) for about 3 hours!! Not in the same spot mind you. I moved 1 car length about every 10 minutes. I picked up E from daycare at 8 o'clock!!!!! And still, there was 1 other child there till 9! Oh, and did I mention they lost phone service because the snow was so heavy on the wires, it came away from the building??? So here I am, stuck in traffic, not able to call and find out if my baby girl was okay. Not fun. In the end, she was fine, we made it home safely and it only took 3 hours and 40 minutes. DH drove from Lunenburg at 5 p.m. and was 3 cars ahead of me on the Prospect Road. Couldn't believe it!!! (If it helps, it usually takes me 20 minutes to get home (30 in traffic) and an hour for DH.)
I'm just so thankful to God that we made it safe. And just as thankful to DH for putting our winter tires on Sunday (studded baby...only way to go!!). And an EXTREMELY SPECIAL THANKS to Delisca at Friends For Life Childcare Centre who went above and beyond the call of duty. She kept the kids entertained, fed and comforted all that time. I can't tell you how much I appreciate it!! I'm going to bake her a pumpkin loaf tonight and bring it in with a card tomorrow. She truly saved the day!!
Well, wherever you were travelling last night, I hope your journey was safe. Winter is here, put your snow tires on, and take care driving!!

There is nothing like having that special day care teacher to be there for your child when you can't be. I was so thankful also for P's teachers. They did the same and had lots of fun making snowballs while the rest of you all tried to get home. Crazy!!
Glad all were safe!!
